Keith Butler commented on the death of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi in Iraq
From Lathrup Village- Keith Butler commented on the death of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi in Iraq. "Today marks a significant victory in the war in Iraq, the war on terror and for freedom in general. al-Zarqawi represents the small faction of people who choose chaos over civility in society. My hope is that his death will mark the beginning of the end to the insurgent fighting in Iraq. Consequently, this is the time to double our efforts, there are more obstacles to conquer. Americans must be diligent in our continued efforts to fully establish a democratic government and ensure the basic tenets of liberty to all Iraqi citizens."
al-Zarqawi was the head of al-Qaida in Iraq and was considered the most wanted man in the country. He was responsible for many of the insurgent attacks on Shiite Muslims and is believed to be responsible for the recent beheading of two American soldiers, over 700 civilian deaths in Iraq by bombing and numerous other atrocities. Al-Zarqawi has been a primary target for American forces, second only to Osama bin Laden, whom he swore allegiance to in 2004. The U.S. placed a bounty on his head for 25 million dollars and has been hunting him for over two years.
