Stabenow May Be Vulnerable
from MIRS Capitol Capsule, Thursday, June 22, 2006
Poll numbers released today show that U.S. Sen. Debbie STABENOW (D-Lansing) may be more vulnerable in her re-election bid than some observers had previously believed. According to a statewide survey of likely voters, only 34 percent said they'd vote to re-elect Stabenow, while 39 percent said they'd rather give someone else a chance to do better.
The survey showed Stabenow with 95 percent name recognition with 43 percent having a favorable impression of her and 29 percent with an unfavorable impression of her. The poll is from a statewide survey of 600 likely voters, conducted by Lansing-based Marketing Resource Group (MRG) between June 7-13. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.1 percent. "I don't think anyone should be very comfortable with these numbers," MRG pollster Paul KING told MIRS today. "These numbers are similar to what we saw with Spence ABRAHAM (in 2000)."
