I Thought Granholm Brought 400 Whirlpool Jobs To Michigan

Benton Harbor - Whirlpool plans to cut about 1200 U.S. jobs in the next two years, moving some to Mexico.

The company says the cuts will be made at its plants in Fort Smith, Arkansas, and Evansville, Indiana, in 2007 and 2008.

Whirlpool will cut about 700 positions at its Fort Smith plant once it completes an expansion of its refrigeration manufacturing facility in Mexico. Some work was already transferred to Mexico when Whirlpool recently completed a voluntary layoff of approximately 940 workers at Fort Smith.

The company previously announced plans to add 1100 jobs in Ohio for expanded laundry manufacturing operations at two sites there.

Michigan need devos like we need a hole in our heads. He is your typical religious fanatic republican that wants the working class to work for five dollars an hour with no healthcare. Of course, people like devos have no problem spending our tax dollars for his company lobbyists or giving tax breaks to companies whose headquarters are in foreign nations. Who is the real socialist here? I bet devos has no problem with executives recieving millions of dollars in their golden parachutes[like Delphi,Kmart,Tyco] while workers have to accept minimum wages. If this is what capitalism has become in America, bring on socialism!
