Benton Harbor: A Safe Haven For Conservatives by Akindele Akinyemi
I just got off the phone with Belinda Brown from Benton Harbor. Mrs. Brown is one of our conservative sisters who is part of our statewide network through One Detroit.
She is reporting that Dr. Paula Dawning, the Superintendent of Benton Harbor Public Schools, has resigned due to "health reasons."
This report has been confirmed through several news sources in the Benton Harbor area.
Black conservatives have also reported to me that my proposal of designing educational empowerment zones and lifting the cap off charter schools to replace failing public schools in Benton Harbor took a toll on Dr. Downing on November 4, 2006 on radio. She even came down to the radio station to confront me. Combined with the defeat of proposal 5 on November 7, 2006 her "health" became an issue as of recent.
One Detroit is preparing to meet with several leaders in Southwestern Michigan to discuss increasing the number of charter schools in Benton Harbor. We will be also putting together an execution plan to promote economic development in this city of 12,000 residents.
OUR plan is working. Stay with us. This network is growing by the day. We need Black conservatives to stand up and take control.
