I am not impressed with the presidential candidates in 2008 on either side. I think this will be the worst presidential races in years. I am going to have trouble voting for someone who will be capapble of running the United States.
Take a look at who is/might be running in 2008.
1. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York. I have never been impressed with Rodham Clinton. I am not interested in recycling leadership in the White House anymore.
2. Sen. Barack Obama. It is a shame that White Democrats would use a Black Democrat as bait to lure in the Black vote again and again. He is not impressive to me at all and even though I like his personality I cannot see myself voting for someone who grins all the damn time. He is the Great Black Hope in the National democratic Party but he will not get my vote.
3. Gov. Bill Richardson of New Mexico. I have not read enough on Gov. Richardson's positions. However, the Hispanic population would back him. To me he looks like the answer to Obama in the minority category.
4. Gov. Mitt Romney. Anyone from the Mormons who believe in the following:
Latter-day Saints ("Mormons") are often unfairly and improperly accused of being racists. Racist attitudes in various forms have permeated human civilization throughout the ages, and white Latter-day Saints in the past often shared the same assumptions and attitudes that were dominant among white Americans. However, the modern Church is outspoken against racism, and the official doctrines of the Church have long taught that all people of all races are sons and daughters of our Heavenly Father and can be heirs of salvation. However, until 1978, there was a restriction on the priesthood that excluded many blacks, and this policy, often assumed to have been motivated by nothing but racism, raises many questions and issues.
Will never receive a vote from me. This is the same group that said Blacks were cursed from Ham.
5. The Vietnam Gang.
Republican Sens. John McCain of Arizona and Chuck Hagel of Nebraska and Democrats Al Gore, Sen. John Kerry and former NATO commander Wesley Clark are all from the Vietnam closet.
Mc Cain is too old. I know that there are some Republicans in Michigan supporting McCain and hell he might even win in Michigan (like he did in 2000).
Al Gore had his chance in 2000. He couldn't even win his home state of Tennessee.
John Kerry is a flip-flopper. He brushed off Black people until the very end of his run for president.
Chuck Hagel. The name it self sounds racist (LOL).
I did like Wesley Clark in 2004 and voted for him over the other Democratic candidates. His command of the issues on foreign policy and international affairs were impressive. But again, looking at his age and the constant wear and tear mentally on him will be a factor.
Rudy Giuliani. If all we can say about him is 9/11 and ignore the number of complants of police brutality against people of color in New York City then I would rather vote for dog catcher.
It's early but I'm not impressed at all. I will say this we will not see a Republican President win, regardless of platform, in 2008. If Condoleeza Rice was running I would not just vote for her but actually work her campaign in Michigan. She is the only person I feel that is capable of running for President on the Republican side. However this presidential hat will go to a Democrat.
I will be focusing on issues and state races in 2008.
