If you look at the chart above you will see why there is a need for more charter schools in Detroit. I will continue to keep bringing this up because we are still lagging behind on this issue.
There were mixed reactions to Connie Calloway being hired as the next superintendent of Detroit Public Schools. Personally, I can care less who runs the Detroit Public Schools because I know liberal politics will come into play. It will always be about the unions and never the children when it comes to Detroit Public Schools. Therefore, I am not trying to deal with DPS. It will all collapse in the end when the smoke clears.
However, one thing that caught my eye (and I mentioned this earlier in the week) is the fact that this sister supports charter schools. William Coleman did not. Therefore he was tossed on his butt last night. This pissed off local labor and religious clergy who have their hands the cookie jar over at DPS.
If Connie Calloway want me to support her then she has to come out openly and explain why charters work. That is when I will lay in front of a bus on her behalf.
I would like to thank Black people in the City of Detroit for giving the State House of Representatives to the Democrats. Now we have wonderful people like House Speaker Andy Dillon, D-Redford Township, who wants to reduce funding for charters and block the main source of new charters, Bay Mills Community College, which is regulated by federal law, from sponsoring any more schools. Ask yourself how many Detroit lawmakers ACTUALLY support charter schools? They might support it in philosophy but would they push legislation to support alternative teacher certification and allow Wayne County Community College to charter schools?
State law works to trap Detroit students in failing schools. But we love keeping our children in failing schools. It's exciting for us to see our children fail and blame the White man for our downfalls. Instead of having a backbone to stand up for choice we are scared of the Detroit Federation of Teachers.
RED ALERT: The DFT are not the ones that put you in office. We are the ones that vote. DFT are using scare tactics to scare our Detroit lawmakers to vote in favor of the teacher unions.
A principal reason of why families are moving out of Detroit is because parents want to enroll their children in better schools. The only thing I ever hear community activists and liberals talk about is fixing a broken school system. But I never hear them give solutions. As many community meetings I have been in over the past 5 years I am fully convinced that these liberals/communists/socialists are the reason why the schools do not work in the beginning. These are the same activists that are taking God of the public schools, promoting diversity through gay/lesbian relationships, and preparing our children to work in a failing workforce here in Michigan.
I would think that saving the children of Detroit would be more important to Detroit lawmakers than keeping union dollars flowing into their campaign coffers.
