What the hell is the media crying about Sen. Obama's pastor for when all this man is speaking of is rhetoric from Black Theology? Who cares if Rev. Jeremiah Wright is goddaming America?
An excerpt from Rev. Wright on "Goddamning" America:
“The government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law and then wants us to sing ‘God Bless America.’ No, no, no, God damn America, that’s in the Bible for killing innocent people,” he said in a 2003 sermon. “God damn America for treating our citizens as less than human. God damn America for as long as she acts like she is God and she is supreme.”
In addition to damning America, he told his congregation on the Sunday after Sept. 11, 2001 that the United States had brought on al Qaeda’s attacks because of its own terrorism.
“We bombed Hiroshima, we bombed Nagasaki, and we nuked far more than the thousands in New York and the Pentagon, and we never batted an eye,” Rev. Wright said in a sermon on Sept. 16, 2001.
“We have supported state terrorism against the Palestinians and black South Africans, and now we are indignant because the stuff we have done overseas is now brought right back to our own front yards. America’s chickens are coming home to roost,” he told his congregation. Now while I think his remarks are extreme and liberal I am tired of folks like Sean Hannity getting up on TV talking about how racist the Trinity United Church of Christ is when he has no actual proof other than a few sermons he took off You Tube. Rev. Wright is no better than these race preaching pims promising Black people heaven as long as they fill the coffers of the church and sell our people in the hood "hope." Some even consider this church to be a cult. Jesus, I mean would you consider Word of Faith with Bishop Keith Butler to be a cult or Fellowship Chapel with Rev. Wendell Anthony (another Black Liberation Church in Detroit)?
How come Rush Limbaugh is asking Republicans to vote for Hillary Clinton? The spin doctors on conservative radio is making the listeners confused about what direction we want to take. It's all about advertising money.
Unfortunately, most White theologians and conservative spin doctors do not understand the importance of Black Theology. This theology dates back to Nat Turner and Pan-Africanism. While I have a serious problem with the socialist/Marxist ideology of Black Theology that is not congruent with the Bible I do not have an issue with the geographical and historical aspect of Black Theology. I just wish people would teach Black Theology from a capitalist perspective with a geo-historical perspective.
The historical implications of racism in America cannot be ignored. It is true that America conducted the Tuskegee Experiment from 1932-1972 on Black men. That cannot be ignored. Yes, white people lynched Blacks for over 100 years. That cannot be ignored either. When we talk about the poll taxes and restrictions on the right to vote White people did those things.
But here is the hook. What Rev. Wright will not tell you, just like other Black Liberation Theology preachers, is that all those crimes committed against Black people historically belonged to the Democratic Party. Instead of hyping up your congregation emotionally tell the truth for once by stating that Republicans were champion of civil rights as Democrats hung Blacks from trees. Ever heard of the term picnic which meant pick a nigger? It goes back to the lynching picnics at the turn of the 20th century.
Also, how many people in Rev. Wright's church are on welfare, illiterate or homosexual? You see where I am going with this? Black Theology in 2008 must be taught from a contemporary conservative perspective that strictly focus on free market principles as well as developing a spiritual walk with Christ. You cannot say the chickens are coming home to roost when Blacks are killing Blacks on the streets of Chicago and Detroit. The only ones coming home to roost is our people. And I mean we are roosting for real.
I am not for eliminating Black Theology 100% to make it mainstream theology because the same religion that people want us to worship is the same religion that was FORCED upon Blacks during slavery. So it is extremely important to teach historical perspectives of the Bible accurately. We cannot ignore our own history and culture to satisfy our White friends. If anything, our White friends should ask us why are we learning our history FIRST and how our history will reveal the factsh about the plight of Black people historically in America. Again, Blacks were not originally playing into the victim race card but understood personal responsibility when our people were Republicans.
The media has focused on Rev. Wright the man but not his message. To me, his message is based on victimization and not personal responsibility. We already know how the White man turned water hoses on us in Birmingham, Al. But Black churches will not teach you how This is what Black Theology teaches most of the time. But at the same point I cannot understand how the media is attacking this church for preaching Black Theology. You have all of these White prosperity teachers building airports, living on 5000 acre lands and making money off their congregation for profit. They never give back to the community and have people looking in the clouds for hope. The sad thing is Black prosperity teachers follow suit and not give a two cent about those who are seeking the experience of God. To me that is not Christianity. That's Robbing the Hood. I am not against prosperity teachings. I am against those who go overboard with the instruction and leave out the common man.
People in the Republican Party say that if Blacks use the platform of the Republican Party the Black community will be saved. Hell, if that's the truth then how come most of these Republican clubs within the Congressional districts will not enter into the Black community if our platform is the best. The real reason is that we have different issues even though the foundation might be the same. The issues in Livonia and Novi are different from Detroit. You cannot use a one-stop approach to solving problems in Detroit.
The same applies for churches. All churches are not the same. They have different messages and while most of them do not teach the Bible accurately they oftentimes leave people in the dark. In this case Rev. Wright is leading people in the dark and damning them to hell if he does not teach personal responsibility and stop teaching failed socialist polices/rhetoric to a group of biblically illiterate people. It will take more than kente cloth and African garb to convince me that he is a man of God teaching Black Theology.
Rev. Wright needs to shut his mouth and let Obama run his campaign. He is embarassing Black people who want to be free from liberalism.
